The first car cake was made for my 1st son when he clocked 2years. The cake was made from scratch. I didn't use a car pan.
This is my first attempt at cake sculpting and surprisingly it came
out fine. Not too fine though but at least i tried.

The second car cake was made using a Wilton car cake pan. Much better i must say but honestly i will prefer carving/sculpting out the car with hand from scratch. It tends to bring out creativity in you and makes you want to try out new designs and patterns.
With the car pan, you get just one pattern of design but with hand sculpting, you get various options.
I will find out if there are various other patterns of car cake pan so my clients will be given options of choosing a car pan design or hand-sculpting.

Wow @ first attempt! You did a great job if that is the case.
I must admit its a bit rough around the edges, not quite the cake you'd sell at a juicy sum, more like the kind you make for a friend's son's birthday and the friend insists on paying you- BUT, if THIS is your first attempt at cake crafting, I think I better sit back and watch this space cos I am more than certain I'll be seeing a lot of flawless craftsmanship sooner than later.
I wonder though, how bakers manage to polish off their fondants so flawlessly without it looking like they used a smoothner and some shortner? I hear its not the same done by hand..... Maybe you should check that out while you work and improve your craft.
Again, good job.
God bless you.

Thanks Dido.

I totally agree with you. But next time am making a car cake, i will use a car pan. Got a really nice one from my customer about a week ago but if am going to lets say a truck or jeep cake, i will have to sculpt it out by hand.

Thanks once again.
